Dog Born Without A Collar Defies The Odds And Finds The Perfect Family

Cooper is a sweet puppy that has short spine syndrome, a disorder that only a few dogs worldwide are affected with. His spine becomes fused and squeezed as a result, giving him his distinctively stunning look. The lovely dog resides in Virginia with Elly and Andy Keegan, his adoptive parents.

Cooper had a difficult beginning to his life, even without his illness. He was only two months old when he was discovered close to a puppy factory. It is unknown how a little dog like him managed to survive.

Cooper was moved to the Minnesota-based animal shelter Secondhand Hounds. There, they assisted him in locating a new family, treated him for ear mites, worms, and a hernia, and assisted him in resolving his issues.

Cooper is a content puppy who doesn’t appear to be bothered by his physical restrictions; he plays and runs around like any other naughty boy.

According to the Ron Project, Elly, the dog’s adoptive mother, stated:

“I am fortunate to have Secondhand Hounds’ assistance and the ideal setting for a dog with specific needs. This does not imply that there are no instances. He collapsed a few months after arriving and shattered his neck five times.

Cooper has considerable trouble using the restroom since his spine is connected to his neck and lower torso, according to Elly.

He is a nice and affectionate guy who deserves to have this second opportunity and to be loved and cared for, so it is truly fantastic for his new family to have him at home as a member of their household.

Secondhand Hounds Coordinator Teri Woolard stated:

Cooper is a perfect example of how dogs with impairments are very lovable and make wonderful companions. We are grateful to have shared in his journey.

Although this cute puppy attempts to live a normal life, his adoptive mother notes that because of his physical constraints, there are some difficulties. He had surgery a while back to deal with his bowel movements and was also found to have osteomyelitis, a bone infection.

It was risky because of how fragile her spine is, but fortunately we were able to manage her with medication.
