Hiking In Norway, A Photographer Captures An Extremely Rare White Baby Reindeer
An very uncommon white newborn deer was recently sighted near Oslo, Norway, by wildlife photography enthusiast Mads Nordsveen, and the photographs are magical.
“I was trekking in the mountains seeking for great views for my trip photography when out of nowhere I noticed this cute animal,” the 24-year-old explained. Despite the fact that the wintery backdrop nearly completely obscured the adorable deer, the photographer claims it made no move to hide and even ‘posed’ for several photos.
“He came quite near to me, and we gazed at each other directly in the eyes,” Nordsveen remembered, “and after a few minutes, the mother of the white deer came out of the trees immediately behind us.”
It took a few minutes to walk around before returning to its mother. It was very amazing and like something out of a fairy tale.”
White reindeer have a rare genetic abnormality that allows them to blend in with their snowy environment by removing color from their coats. They have black pigmentation in their eyes and antlers, unlike albinos.
