Man Drives 2,800 Miles To Save Pit Bull From Being Euthanized
Since his wife informed him that two-year-old Hickory was on the Animal Care Centers of NYC’s (ACC) death list, Mario Rodriguez, a truck driver in Georgia who has a strong bond with pit bulls, did not think twice before giving him a second shot at life.
John said:
“The breed was a part of everyone’s upbringing in our family, and it was a part of how we brought up our kids. They are such devoted followers. I could tell from Hickory’s picture that all he wanted was to be loved.
Despite being 2800 kilometers away from the dog, Mario had no trouble getting there.
John said:
I’m on a mission to save this puppy, so I told my wife, “I have to go get him.
Mario made the decision to speak with his employer, and he assisted him by planning a trip to New York so that he could meet Hickory. Before leaving on his trek, he made a call to the shelter to let them know he was coming.
John said:
“By the third day, they knew my number since I was weaving through traffic and called the shelter every day. He’s still here, Mario, he’s still here, they said.
Meeting his new puppy son eventually happened after six arduous days.
2,800 miles were driven to save a dog.
John said:
“After parking my pickup, I hurried inside. Hickory practically leaped out of the kennel when she spotted me. That’s it, mate, I said. We’re returning home. He began to wag his tail maniacally. He sprang on me right away and started licking my face.
The bond that developed between the two was unquestionably miraculous; their meeting was predestined.
Mario continued:
He seems to be waiting for me, I thought. It was so odd. We hit it off right away. In my whole life, I have never had a dog get that close to me so soon.
After Mario had finished the adoption paperwork, they left for home right away, the dog eagerly getting into the vehicle.
