Rescue Dog Finally Relaxes When He Gets His Own Toy

Animal Rescue League of Iowa shelter volunteer Nicole Marie Wasieleski. Nicole hadn’t intended to have another dog, but when she spotted Kairi, an older dog by herself in her cage, she couldn’t help but adopt her because of the way she looked dejected.

Nicole stated to The Dodo:

“She appeared to be a kind, elderly wolf when I first met her at the shelter, and I was eager to get to know her. She was extremely serene and kind.”

When Kairi was ten years old, her previous owners abandoned her without warning. Despite finding a new home with Nicole, the dog struggled to adapt to the situation.

In an effort to make her feel more safe, Nicole wanted to offer her something that was all her own. He then drove her to a pet store so she could pick out the toy she wanted.

Kairi was clear about what she desired. Even though her new family tried to give her other toys, she picked a pink dinosaur. She chose to ignore them and leave her business with the dinosaur, remaining by his side ever since.

She plays and cuddles with him while carrying him about. According to Nicole, Kairi allows the other dogs in the household to play with it, but they are aware that they can’t trash it like they do with all the other toys.

Kairi has separation anxiety, and she uses chewing on the carpets to express her displeasure at her new parents leaving. So they began training Kairi in cages to make her feel more comfortable, and that’s when “Dino” truly started to show that he was much more than just a toy.

In her words:

“She was barking and scratching at the kennel, and we were terrified that she may be wounded. She doesn’t speak while Dino is around.”

Kairi is gradually becoming accustomed to her new residence and frequently puts one of her large gray paws on her mother’s arm to express her gratitude for the second opportunity.

In her words:

“We are genuinely in awe of how much vitality he still has at his age. She battles with my other two-year-old dogs before wanting to cuddle with her family or her dinosaur to relax.
