Stray Dogs In Parking Lot Ask Everyone For Help

Two famished, fearful dogs living in a fast food restaurant parking lot in Brownsville, Texas, had nowhere to go — until Destiny Vasquez, 18, noticed one of them, got out her phone, and made a video.

Jessica Marin, Vasquez’s mother, who has rescued several stray dogs from the streets of South Texas, sprung into action.

Marin arrived to the restaurant to see two dogs living side by side in the parking lot. They had no idea where they’d come from. Marin told The Dodo, “I talked with an employee who indicated the dogs had been here for a long time.”

Marin photographed both dogs and submitted them, along with her daughter’s video, to Leslie Ysuhuaylas Hennings, who uses social media to raise awareness for animals in need.

Hennings commented on Facebook about the dogs, saying, “They almost cried out to be removed, but they were not. They approach every automobile that drives by, hoping to find a place to call home. It’s been weeks since I’ve seen you. It’ll be another night in the parking lot tonight. It’ll be another night out on the town. These two have nothing but each other and are in dire need of help! Please assist them in forming a rescue and foster network!”

Teran’s first meeting with the couple couldn’t have gone any better.

“I was ecstatic to see them! They were very adorable “Teran remarked. “They were starving for love. They were quite pleasant. They weren’t afraid or hesitant in the least. They had large smiles on their faces and were overjoyed. They didn’t understand what was going on, but they were overjoyed.”

Teran also picked up nine more stray dogs to return to the Houston animal shelter. She drove them home while playing music and spoke to them after they were all loaded in the car.

“I told them, ‘I want to show you that life can be pleasant, and that everything will be great,'” she explained. “For the first time in a long time, the couple fell slept peacefully and relaxed.”

Teran has placed the two dogs she worked so hard to save in foster care. “They are so close that they cling to each other. Their disposition is quite pleasant. They are constantly scrutinizing every aspect “she stated

The canines, who are both female, are around a year old. Patty and Pepper were Teran’s names for them.

Valerie Johnson, president and creator of Animal Aid Brigade, told The Dodo that her organization specialized on rescuing canines from South Texas, where there are innumerable stray dogs.

Johnson described the situation as “heartbreaking.” “You feel sorry for the creatures that are plainly pleading for assistance. It tears your heart out and leaves you wondering, “How could this happen?””

The rescue organization is pleading for assistance in protecting animals in the region. The organization has been raising funds for a spay-neuter van to make the operations more accessible.

Johnson stated, “We want the rest of the country to know what’s going on.” “To raise awareness of the situation and to get resources, including veterinarians willing to donate their time or go down and volunteer for a weekend. Foster homes are in short supply. Adopters are in short supply. These communities do not have enough resources.”

Patty and Pepper will be available for adoption shortly. Teran will be sad to see them go, but she knows there are hundreds more pets that want her assistance.

“”This is only the start of their trip and adventures,” Teran explained. “I’m simply really looking forward to them.””
