A Shelter Worker Adopts A Kitten That Wouldn’t Stop Meowing

Sugar and his brothers came at the Exploits Valley SPCA in July, and it was evident he was unwell right away. Because he had a respiratory illness that necessitated medicine, he had to stay at the shelter a little longer than the rest of his litter before being adopted.

Sugar bonded with all of the shelter employees and volunteers while he was recovering, and he enjoyed showing off what a cute little cat he was.

“From the beginning, he was really sociable and talkative,” Sarah MacLeod of the Exploits Valley SPCA told The Dodo.

Glen was one of the staff members Sugar encountered frequently. Glen has been volunteering at the shelter for over 30 years and loves it. He was frequently assigned to clean Sugar’s room, and Sugar was overjoyed every time he saw Glen.

Sugar would shout at Glen to stop working and pay attention to him, according to MacLeod.

Sugar would meow incessantly every time Glen went by, until Glen eventually gave him some love and attention. Glen had fallen in love with several cats over the course of 30 years, but he had always managed to see them off to their permanent homes. Sugar, on the other hand, was different. Glen and Sugar definitely had a particular relationship.

Glen had had no intention of adopting a kitten. Sugar wasn’t going to be content until he was always by Glen’s side, it became evident after a time. He understood exactly what he needed to accomplish.

“Glen wasn’t seeking to adopt; he already had a cat,” MacLeod explained, “but he loved Sugar too much to let him be taken.”
