Photographer Captures Two Widowed Penguins Went To Enjoy Melbourne Skyline Together

A wildlife photographer captured a sweet moment between two widower penguins comforting one other as they gaze out at a twilight view, and it may be the cutest thing the internet has ever seen.
Tobias Baumgaertner took the stunning shot in the Melbourne district of St Kilda, but it wasn’t until yesterday that it went popular after being posted on Twitter.

Tobias stated the two penguins had seemingly lost their separate companions and were admiring the ‘dancing lights’ of the Melbourne skyline together when he uploaded it on his own Instagram profile last month.

“The genuinely blessed ones are those who can be with the person/people they love most through moments like this,” he added. This photo was taken approximately a year ago.

“These two Fairy penguins, perched atop a cliff overlooking Melbourne’s cityscape, stood there for hours, flipper in flipper, enjoying the glittering lights of the skyline and ocean.”

“A volunteer approached me and informed me that the white woman was an older woman who had lost her companion, as had the younger male on the left. Since then, they’ve met on a regular basis to console one another and stand for hours watching the dancing lights of the surrounding metropolis.”

Tobias may have worked for three nights straight to acquire the photo, but he managed to capture an outstanding image in the end.

Tobias also said: “I stayed with this penguin colony for three nights until I was able to get this image. It was difficult to capture a photo since I couldn’t or wasn’t permitted to use any lighting, and the small penguins were constantly moving, rubbing their flippers on each other’s backs and cleaning one other, but I got fortunate during one really lovely moment. I hope you had as much fun with this as I did.”
