A Sweet Street Cat Was Found With A Note Tucked Inside Her Collar

Violet was a stray cat when she came to the Effingham County Animal Shelter in Illinois on Monday, and it was apparent that she had a home. Violet’s rescuer, Michaela Muzzy, stated on Facebook, “She’s very, very lovely and likes to be rubbed on the head.”

But her sweetness wasn’t the only thing that hinted at the cat’s background – she had a pink collar with a naughty kitty tied to it around her neck.

Every inch of the paper was covered with purple marker scribble.

“Bye Violet,” it said (adjusted for spelling). That name, I believe, picked you. I wish I had the ability to retain you. Violet, I hope you find a loving home. Please take excellent care of her, owner. By the way, I gave her a name. Thank you very much! Lacey, I love you.”

The heartfelt message tore apart hearts all across the refuge. Not only was a beautiful cat looking for a home, but so was a youngster. Vanessa Skavlem, an animal control officer at the shelter, told The Dodo, “When we peeled it off and read it, it really pulls at your emotions.” “I just imagine a youngster who adores this object but knows they won’t be able to retain it.”

The test for a microchip at the shelter came out negative. They posted a photo of Violet and the letter on social media since they couldn’t reach Violet’s previous owners.

The child’s plea for her beloved pet to find a decent home reverberated across the neighborhood, including Cindy Murray.

Murray’s eyes welled up with emotions when she first saw the message on Facebook: “You could tell it was written by a youngster,” Murray told The Dodo. “You could see she cared for this cat, but she couldn’t keep her and wanted her to go to a decent home.”

Murray had the day off, so she decided to pay a visit to the shelter to meet Violet.

“I took a screenshot of the post and sent it to my husband at work, saying, ‘I’m going to get this kitty.’ ‘I love it — talk me out of it,’” says the speaker. Murray remarked. ‘You know I can’t do that,’ he replied. ‘Go get it if you want it.’

Murray could see the little Siamese cat in the shelter was scared, so she decided to take her home that day. Violet began to relax once she was back in a caring environment: “She’s been purring and she appears quite happy,” Murray said.

Murray really hopes she could reach out to the little girl who loves her cat and assure her that everything would be fine: “I considered making a video for this girl, saying, ‘Dear Lacey, I adopted your lovely Violet.’ She’ll enjoy a lovely life, full of goodies, cuddles, and everything else we can give her.’
